TOLEDO, Ohio — Police are investigating a heartbreaking incident in West Toledo where two elderly residents, 85-year-old Lynn Gowin and 83-year-old Jeanne Gowin, were found dead inside their home in what investigators believe to be a murder-suicide.

According to authorities, officers responded on Wednesday afternoon to a residence located on the 3700 block of Barcelona Drive after receiving a request for a welfare check. Upon entering the home, officers discovered two individuals deceased inside.

The victims have been identified as 85-year-old Lynn Gowin and 83-year-old Jeanne Gowin, both longtime residents of the West Toledo neighborhood. Investigators confirmed that both individuals had suffered gunshot wounds.

Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that Lynn Gowin fatally shot Jeanne Gowin before turning the weapon on himself. Detectives believe the sequence of events occurred inside the residence, though the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under active investigation.

Police have not released additional details regarding a possible motive, and officials say it is unclear what may have led to the tragic incident. Detectives are continuing to review evidence from the scene, including forensic findings and any available background information, in an effort to better understand what happened in the moments before the deaths.

Neighbors in the quiet residential area expressed shock and sadness as news of the incident spread, describing the couple as private individuals who had lived in the home for a significant period of time.

Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time out of respect for the family and the integrity of the case.
