Rosedale, Miss. — A fatal shooting near Rosedale High School on Thursday afternoon has left one man dead and prompted an ongoing search for a suspect, according to the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Miltorious Britton of Rosedale. Authorities are currently seeking 37-year-old Timothy Hall of Gunnison in connection with the shooting, which drew a response from both the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office and the Rosedale Police Department.
According to a press release, law enforcement officers were dispatched at approximately 2:08 p.m. on June 11, 2026, after receiving reports of shots fired at Rosedale High School. The call triggered an immediate response as officers worked to locate those involved and secure the area.
When deputies and police officers arrived, they discovered a light blue Chevy Tahoe in a wooded area behind Rosedale Elementary School. Inside the vehicle were two occupants. Investigators found Miltorious Britton suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second occupant in the vehicle was not injured.
As investigators processed evidence and interviewed witnesses, they determined that the shooting had occurred in the parking lot of Rosedale High School before the vehicle was later found behind the elementary school. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting or a possible motive.
