In Loving Memory of Kurt W. Paulus

The community is mourning the tragic loss of Kurt W. Paulus, 76, of Delaware, Ohio, who lost his life in a devastating plane crash in Scioto County on Thursday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kurt was piloting a 2006 Cirrus SR-20 single-engine aircraft that had just departed from the Greater Portsmouth Regional Airport. During the aircraft’s initial climb after takeoff, the plane crashed into a residence along Bennett School House Road in Harrison Township.

Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, Kurt sadly succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities confirmed that he was the sole occupant of the aircraft and was traveling to Delaware, Ohio, when the tragedy occurred.

The crash also caused a fire that destroyed the residence involved. Miraculously, the two individuals inside the home at the time escaped without physical injury.

As family, friends, and loved ones come to terms with this heartbreaking loss, they remember Kurt for the life he lived, the memories he created, and the impact he had on those around him. His passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are continuing their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
