According to the Kansas City Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 11:30 p.m. at the QuikTrip located in the 1200 block of Westport Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered two young men suffering from gunshot wounds inside the store. Rickey L. Cal was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Jeron Jackson was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Jeron sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away early Sunday morning.
The heartbreaking loss of these two young lives has left family members, friends, and the Kansas City community mourning a tragedy that has forever altered the lives of those who knew and loved them.
