CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The community of Champaign is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 16-year-old Trai’Vvone A. Wesley, whose life was tragically cut short following a fatal shooting on the city’s north side early Saturday morning.

Trai’Vvone was pronounced dead at 1:05 a.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital after being rushed there with life-threatening injuries sustained in the incident. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to a gunshot wound, leaving family, friends, and the wider community in shock and grief.

Born and raised in Champaign, Trai’Vvone was a young life full of promise and potential.
