Tragedy in Milledgeville: Pregnant Woman, Unborn Child, and Man Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A heartbreaking tragedy has left the Milledgeville community in shock after 33-year-old Jajuan Taylor and 41-year-old Briuna Hartry, along with Hartry’s unborn child, were found dead inside a home on North Richmond Street in what authorities are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide.

According to the Milledgeville Police Department, officers were called to the 100 block of North Richmond Street at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Friday morning following a request for a welfare check. When officers arrived and entered the home, they were met with a devastating scene—two lives already lost, and a third life, yet to begin, also gone.

Investigators identified the victims as Jajuan Taylor, 33, and Briuna Hartry, 41, both of Milledgeville. Police said Hartry was approximately 33 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident, meaning she was just weeks away from welcoming her child into the world.

Authorities believe Taylor fatally shot Hartry and then took his own life inside the residence. Detectives say the tragedy likely unfolded sometime between midnight and 8:00 a.m., long before officers were ever called to the scene.

The loss has sent waves of grief through the community, as residents struggle to come to terms with how a home—often seen as a place of safety and love—became the setting of such unimaginable heartbreak. The added loss of an unborn child has deepened the sorrow, leaving many reflecting on the fragility of life and the silent struggles that can exist behind closed doors.

As investigators continue working to understand what led to the devastating events, no clear motive has been released. Authorities say the case remains active, with detectives carefully gathering evidence and speaking with anyone who may have known the couple.

Following the on-scene investigation, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab in Macon will conduct autopsies to confirm official causes of death.

Officials have reassured the public that there is no ongoing danger and no suspects being sought.

Still, for the Milledgeville community, reassurance offers little relief from the weight of this loss. Three lives—two adults and an unborn child—are gone, leaving behind unanswered questions, broken hearts, and a grief that will linger far beyond the headlines.

Anyone with information that may help investigators is urged to contact Lieutenant Phillip Vinson at 478-414-4090 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 478-742-2330 as the investigation continues.
