According to the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office, Brown was found at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, after search crews worked tirelessly through difficult conditions to locate him. The search began nearly 25 hours earlier after family members realized he had gone missing and continued until it was temporarily suspended overnight before resuming Sunday morning.
Authorities reported that Brown’s body was recovered from Sun Valley Lake, a beloved community located about 80 miles southwest of Des Moines. At this time, officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding his death, and the cause remains under investigation.
Brown’s daughter, Kelli Leonard, shared the devastating news with family and friends, explaining that her father had apparently wandered away sometime between midnight and 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. The family immediately began searching for him and sought assistance from authorities when their efforts proved unsuccessful.
