The communities of Kentwood and Franklinton are grieving the devastating loss of 43-year-old Jerome Warren, who passed away in a fatal two-vehicle crash on the morning of Thursday, May 28, 2026. The tragedy unfolded shortly after 7:30 a.m. along LA 1057 near Milburn Grace Road in Tangipahoa Parish, leaving family members, friends, and loved ones heartbroken by a sudden and unimaginable loss.
Louisiana State Police Troop L reported that troopers arrived at the scene shortly after the collision and immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials confirmed that Jerome Warren of Franklinton died as a result of injuries sustained in the incident.
Preliminary information indicates that Warren was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on LA 1057 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway. In an attempt to correct the path of the vehicle, it is believed he oversteered, causing the car to cross back over the roadway and enter the westbound lane. The right side of his vehicle then struck a 2021 Western Star tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction. After the impact, both vehicles left the roadway and ended up in a nearby wooded area.
Authorities confirmed that Warren was not restrained at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was properly restrained and was not injured.
Officials noted that impairment is not believed to be a factor; however, standard toxicology testing has been conducted and remains pending as part of the ongoing investigation. Louisiana State Police continue to review all circumstances that may have contributed to the crash.
