PUEBLO, Colo. — The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly Thursday morning crash as 21-year-old Javien Aaron Miller, following a tragic collision on southbound Interstate 25 that claimed his life.
According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), officers were dispatched at approximately 9:40 a.m. to a serious crash just south of the City Center on-ramp. When emergency crews arrived, they found a collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle that had occurred along the shoulder of the interstate.
Investigators say the sequence began when a semi-truck merged onto I-25 and then pulled onto the shoulder near the City Center on-ramp after the driver reportedly sensed a possible mechanical issue. The truck was reportedly stationary or slowing on the shoulder as the situation was being assessed.
Shortly after, a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Miller entered I-25 from the City Center on-ramp and also traveled onto the shoulder. In a devastating moment, the vehicle collided with the rear of the semi-trailer.
Despite rapid emergency response, authorities confirmed that Miller sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional injuries were immediately reported.
The Pueblo Police Department noted that this incident marks the 10th fatal crash in the city this year, highlighting a continuing concern over roadway safety along busy stretches of interstate and surrounding access points.
