Beaumont is once again grieving after a devastating burst of violence left a 17-year-old dead and two 15-year-old boys injured in a shooting that has shaken the South Park community to its core.
What should have been an ordinary Wednesday afternoon was shattered shortly after 1:00 p.m. when gunfire erupted in the 4300 block of Ogden Avenue near Woodrow. In moments, a neighborhood backyard became the scene of chaos, fear, and irreversible loss.
When Beaumont Police and emergency responders arrived, they found three teenagers suffering from gunshot wounds. Beaumont EMS rushed all three victims to a nearby hospital, where medical teams fought desperately to save them. Despite those efforts, the 17-year-old victim tragically succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a grieving family and a community struggling to understand how such a young life could be taken so suddenly. The two 15-year-old boys survived and are currently receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The heartbreak of this incident is compounded by timing and pattern, coming just days after another deadly shooting in Beaumont. This marks the second homicide in the city since Monday, following a separate double shooting near an apartment complex on West Virginia Street. For many residents, the growing sense of unease is becoming impossible to ignore.
Authorities say the investigation is still in its early stages, and no suspect or vehicle information has been released. Detectives are working tirelessly, piecing together evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing every available lead to understand what led to the deadly gunfire.
District Chief Scott Wheat confirmed that EMS personnel acted quickly at the scene, providing urgent medical care before transporting the victims to the hospital.
Sgt. Haley Morrow described the incident as another painful example of preventable violence that continues to claim young lives.
“It’s another example of senseless violence that doesn’t have to happen,” Morrow said. “It’s time to have tough conversations with kids. There’s almost always some kind of indicator that children are headed down the wrong path.”
Her words reflect a growing concern among law enforcement officials and community leaders who are watching too many young lives being altered—or ended—by gun violence.
Now, investigators are calling on the public for help. Residents in the area are being urged to check home surveillance cameras and report anything unusual that may assist in identifying those responsible. Even the smallest detail, police say, could be critical in bringing justice to the victims and their families.

As Beaumont processes yet another tragic loss, grief hangs heavy over the South Park neighborhood. A young life has been taken too soon, two others are recovering from trauma they will carry forward, and a community is left searching for answers that feel painfully out of reach.
In the silence left behind, one truth remains clear: the impact of this violence will not fade quickly, and the call for answers—and healing—has never been more urgent.
