According to authorities, Pennsylvania State Police and Kidder Township Police responded to a residence on State Street on June 5, 2026, after concerns were raised regarding the welfare of the occupants following a 911 hang-up call. What officers discovered upon arrival would lead to a tragic death investigation involving two individuals found deceased inside a motor home located on the property.
Following a joint investigation conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, officials identified one of the deceased as Samuel Douglas Macadam, a 59-year-old former resident of Hazle Township.
Investigators determined that Macadam died as a result of a gunshot wound, and the Carbon County Coroner’s Office officially ruled his death a homicide. The findings marked a tragic conclusion to a case that has shaken both East Side Borough and surrounding communities.
The second individual was identified as Beth Allyson Esa, 58, of East Side Borough. Authorities ruled her death a suicide resulting from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
