The Sandusky County community is mourning the tragic loss of 69-year-old James F. Stevenson of Toledo, who lost his life in a fatal single-vehicle crash Friday morning on State Route 590 near Jackson Township. According to the Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 9:04 a.m. on May 29 along State Route 590 near milepost 6. Investigators reported that James F. Stevenson was operating a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound when the vehicle unexpectedly left the west side of the roadway for reasons still under investigation.

Troopers stated that after departing the roadway, the vehicle continued into a nearby farm field before striking a row of trees. Despite the severity of the crash, authorities confirmed that Stevenson was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported him to ProMedica Fremont Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
