A frightening and tragic incident unfolded in Goldsboro, North Carolina, late Tuesday evening when 20-year-old NyAsia Faison became the victim of an alleged intentional crash stemming from a domestic dispute. While thankfully surviving the ordeal, the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of violence and the lasting emotional impact such events can have on victims, families, and communities.
According to the Goldsboro Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:45 p.m. to a crash with injuries in the 1200 block of U.S. Highway 70 West. As investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the collision, they determined that the crash was allegedly intentional and connected to a domestic-related argument.
Authorities say Jareyon Powell, 20, pursued NyAsia Faison while traveling westbound on U.S. 70 before allegedly striking her vehicle. The force of the collision reportedly caused Faison to lose control of her car and crash. What began as a domestic dispute quickly escalated into a dangerous situation that endangered lives and left a young woman facing a terrifying experience.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported both Faison and Powell to UNC Health Wayne for treatment. Officials reported that Faison suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Powell, who allegedly lost control of his own vehicle and was ejected during a rollover crash, was later transferred to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for additional treatment.
As the investigation progressed, detectives obtained warrants charging Powell with first-degree attempted murder and several additional offenses, including driving while impaired, driving after consuming alcohol while under the age of 21, interfering with emergency communications, reckless driving, and driving while license revoked due to an impaired-driving revocation.
While this incident was not fatal, it remains a deeply troubling event that could have ended in tragedy. The experience serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing domestic conflicts peacefully and seeking help before situations escalate into violence.
As NyAsia Faison continues her recovery, many are keeping her in their thoughts and prayers. Surviving such a traumatic event often involves not only physical healing but emotional healing as well. Family members, friends, and supporters will undoubtedly play an important role as she moves forward from this life-altering experience.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say the warrants against Powell will be served once he is released from the hospital. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Goldsboro Police Department.
During this difficult time, the community stands with NyAsia Faison and her loved ones, hoping for her continued recovery and healing in the days ahead.
