It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the community mourns the tragic passing of Leah Anderson, a 21-year-old beloved daughter, student, friend, and young educator whose life was cut short far too soon.
Leah Anderson of Thornton, New Hampshire, was found on Mad River Road on Monday morning following a 911 call. Despite the swift response of Thornton and Campton police officers and emergency medical personnel, and despite receiving urgent treatment at the hospital, Leah tragically passed away from her injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Leah was a dedicated student at Plymouth State University, where she pursued a degree in elementary education and youth development. She was known for her passion for working with children and her dream of becoming an educator who could positively shape young lives. Those who knew her describe her as compassionate, driven, and deeply caring about her future and the people around her.
Her connection to her community ran strong. Leah worked for the town of Campton and previously attended Plymouth Regional High School, where she also played basketball. Her teammates and classmates remember her as a supportive presence—someone who encouraged others, worked hard, and carried herself with quiet determination both on and off the court.
Leah’s loss is felt not only by her family and close friends but also by her school community, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Plymouth State University and the surrounding communities have been left grieving, reflecting on a young life filled with promise, ambition, and kindness.
As friends and loved ones come together to honor her memory, they hold onto the impact she made in her 21 years—the laughter she shared, the goals she worked toward, and the lives she touched along the way.
Though her time here was far too short, Leah Anderson’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May she be remembered for her warmth, her dedication, and the light she brought into the world.
Rest in peace, Leah. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
