According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred shortly after 3:45 p.m. on the westbound side of I-70 near McFarland. Authorities reported that a 2024 Kenworth semi-truck traveling eastbound crossed the center median for reasons that remain under investigation and entered the westbound lanes. The semi then collided with a 2020 Buick Envision occupied by Barbara Krier, Steven Reed, and a young passenger.
