BRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. — The community is mourning the tragic loss of Deron Johnson, who lost his life following a head-on collision on KY 9 at Old Pea Ridge Road on Monday evening.
According to the Kentucky State Police, the crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. when a Ford Escape, driven by Johnson, was traveling southbound on KY 9. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound Dodge Ram.
Deron Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Bracken County Coroner’s Office as a result of the crash. Authorities have not released additional personal details at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was transported by air to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Law enforcement officials with Kentucky State Police Post 6 Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
