The Caledonia community is mourning the tragic loss of 19-year-old Eva J. Moran, who died following a devastating three-vehicle crash on Friday evening in Claridon Township, Marion County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:28 p.m. on May 29 near milepost 21 along State Route 309. Investigators say Eva was driving eastbound when her vehicle struck the rear of a GMC Acadia that was stopped and waiting to turn left into a private driveway. After the initial impact, her vehicle crossed the centerline and was struck by a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The force of the collision caused Eva to be ejected from her vehicle. Emergency responders from Marion Township EMS arrived quickly and transported her to Marion General Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased despite ongoing medical efforts.
Two other drivers were involved in the crash. The driver of the GMC Acadia, 19-year-old Nathaniel R. Blankenship of Marion, was treated at the scene for possible injuries. The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, 23-year-old Dalila Zamudio of Galion, sustained minor injuries and later sought medical attention at Marion General Hospital. Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Beyond the official details, Eva’s passing has left her family, friends, and community in deep sorrow. At just 19 years old, she was at the beginning of her adult life, with hopes, plans, and a future that has now been tragically cut short. Her absence is deeply felt by those who knew and loved her.
